Jeremy's therapeutic approach is best described as eclectic—he draws from a wide range of evidence-informed treatment modalities and tailors his methods to what each client needs at their particular life stage and point in their change journey. Rather than being wedded to a single approach, Jeremy works collaboratively with clients to determine which therapeutic tools and frameworks will be most helpful for their specific situation.
Jeremy prioritises creating a non-judgmental therapeutic space where trust and safety can develop naturally. He understands that good rapport is the foundation of any meaningful therapeutic relationship, and that without a genuine sense of safety, no effective therapy can proceed. His style is warm, creative, and collaborative—he works with you, not on you.
Depending on what you're working on, Jeremy might draw from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for addressing thought patterns, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for values-aligned living, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) for emotion regulation, polyvagal approaches for nervous system healing, depth psychological methods like psychoanalytic therapy, or other frameworks including schema work, narrative therapy, attachment theory, gestalt, existential therapy, or art therapy. The decisions about which approaches to use emerge through collaborative conversation between you and Jeremy.
Jeremy recognises that therapy is complex because human beings are unfathomably and wonderfully complex. No therapeutic approach or therapist can guarantee 100% efficacy—outcomes depend on many factors including your readiness for change, the fit between client and therapist, life circumstances, and broader social contexts. It may take several episodes of therapy for meaningful insight or beneficial change to emerge. Jeremy recommends an initial three to six sessions to allow both of you to make an informed decision about the therapeutic relationship and direction, followed by a 'pause and reflect' session to collaboratively review progress and future plans.
While Jeremy maintains a solution-focused orientation, he also understands that sustainable change takes time, particularly when working with complex trauma, entrenched patterns, or deep relational wounds. His commitment is to ensure that your sessions remain beneficial, relevant, and aligned with your goals throughout the therapeutic journey.

Jeremy believes that every person’s life story is extraordinarily rich and meaningful, whether they come from highly chaotic circumstances or what might at first seem like an unremarkable background. All people are uniquely complex and interesting, and one of the essential tasks of good therapy is creating a safe space to explore that complexity with genuine curiosity and respect.
Jeremy understands that meaningful therapeutic growth and change becomes possible when the client is ready and when there is sufficient “goodness of fit” between therapist and client. This is why he prioritises building genuine rapport and trust as the foundation of the therapeutic relationship, and why he maintains that the client is always the final arbiter of what works for them.
As a proud social worker, Jeremy is uniquely positioned to examine the full complexity of a client’s world. Social workers are trained not only to work with internal psychological experience, but also to consider wider family systems, cultural contexts, organisational structures, and the impact of factors like poverty, discrimination, chronic illness, and systemic barriers on mental health. Jeremy understands that you cannot adequately address depression and anxiety if someone is struggling with unstable housing, food insecurity, navigating complex government systems like the NDIS, or facing structural oppression. He works with the many moving parts of a person’s experience simultaneously rather than focusing solely on diagnosis or single-dimension interventions.
If you’re looking for a therapist who understands complexity, who brings both clinical expertise and genuine warmth to the work, and who will treat you as a partner in your own healing journey, Jeremy would welcome the opportunity to speak with you.
